Some favorite quotes from His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Perfect virtue is never doing anything that will cause another to suffer.

Let us be in love with all around us. Let us in love resolve to be in love, for love is life, and certainly we do not want to step out of life. So let us in love resolve to remain in love and let us never step out of the boundaries of lovingness. For in love dwells the power of God, the power of creation, wisdom of life and the strength of all good. Certainly our life has to be all in love.

When we want to increase friendship we don't have to talk. Feel a warm feeling inside. Increased feeling of warmth will increase the friendship astonishingly because that is the field of infinite correlation.

We are born to bless, never to punish. This you should never forget.
Every time you show love to your fellow man, an angel descends from heaven and makes a record.

On the platform of Reality, on the platform of spirituality, on the platform of oneness of life, all differences dissolve.

Not finding fault and not speaking ill of others is counted as an essential prerequisite to the realization of God and freedom from bondage. When a man speaks ill of others, he partakes of the sins of those of whom he speaks. Such a man thus draws more and more bad influence to himself; that is, he falls deeper into impurity.

We should always see good in others--very important. We are not in a position to criticize anyone. The existence of enemies means for us that friendliness has not been sufficient. God helps those who help themselves. It is a very true saying. We are aware of darkness, but for our community we want enlightenment.

Do not oppose, because in opposing the tenderness of the feeling level is crushed. All action should be to nourish the fine feeling developed in the sidhis [one of Maharishi’s meditation techniques]. That is why we say speak the truth but see that you are speaking delicately. Do not speak non-truth and do not speak in a non-sweet way, so that the feeling is nourished. The whole effect of activity is to enrich the feeling of the other. Be as delicate as possible. If communication accomplishes something on the gross but damages something on the level of feeling, then it is a spiritual loss. The feeling is more important for life. Nourishment of the feeling level is the basis for growth of the spiritual, holistic value. Delicate behavior on the surface should be such as to nourish, uphold and enhance the transcendental value where feelings merge into a common source. Do not oppose. Opposition is dangerous to immortality.

We don’t go by what the world has been. We go by what the world should be.
What we have been saying from the beginning of the movement has been unbelievable, but it has come to be believed. We have been impossible right from the beginning, and we must continue to be impossible because we are raising a voice against suffering which has been considered to be the nature of life. It is our joy to be considered impossible.

It is the focus on the highest ideal day after day that saves life from being wrapped up in small whirlwinds.

Until one is committed, there is hesitation, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way (quoting Goethe).

The great, mighty current of evolution which is advancing the life of everything in creation is simply invincible--no one can resist it.

My Guru is more than my God to me, for without him I would not have known God.

We are going to realize the greatest dream of all ages.

Moonlight Illumining a Cross

Moonlight Illumining a Cross
In honor of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

You keep believing you’re okay
Yet there he is so far away
We see your lives in many ways
And say the things we need to say.

Speaking things you need to hear
In Spirit tongue, clean and clear
Father Spirit speaks to us
Because He wants to help you trust.

You simply do not understand
All we do is lend a hand
All we are is just a guide
Paradise is found inside.*

If you listen it’s your choice
This is Father Spirit’s voice
He loves His children all the time
Singing golden, holy rhymes.

Dancing nightly ‘neath the moon
Drumming angels’ magic tunes
Crying tears of love and joy
Calling to His girls and boys.

He sees the way you live your lives
And then He pounds the ground and cries
Moaning, groaning all the night
Such a gruesome, morbid sight.

It makes me cry each time I see Him
All His children always flee Him
Every night He sings and dances
Every night He gives more chances.

Every night He sets some places
‘round a fire for children’s faces
Every night He lays out mats
And all that come are mice and gnats.

They eat the fruit He spread around
The finest gifts that day He found
He sees the critters eat His fruit
And then He plays His magic lute.

Such a tune He plays each night!
Fingers fast and eyes so bright
On His face is such a smile
Gnats stop eating for a while
Mice line up in single file.

Then He stops and looks around
All alone on holy ground
He lifts His arm and starts to cry
And hangs His head and fights a sigh.

He cannot bear His soulful sadness
In His tribe is so much badness
On his knees before the moon
He prays His clan will find Him soon.

He gathers all the colored mats
Spots where only vermin sat
Takes them bundled to the creek
And scrubs them all until they squeak.

"Might as well forget my sorrow
Maybe a child will come tomorrow."
