Moonlight Illumining a Cross

Moonlight Illumining a Cross
In honor of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

You keep believing you’re okay
Yet there he is so far away
We see your lives in many ways
And say the things we need to say.

Speaking things you need to hear
In Spirit tongue, clean and clear
Father Spirit speaks to us
Because He wants to help you trust.

You simply do not understand
All we do is lend a hand
All we are is just a guide
Paradise is found inside.*

If you listen it’s your choice
This is Father Spirit’s voice
He loves His children all the time
Singing golden, holy rhymes.

Dancing nightly ‘neath the moon
Drumming angels’ magic tunes
Crying tears of love and joy
Calling to His girls and boys.

He sees the way you live your lives
And then He pounds the ground and cries
Moaning, groaning all the night
Such a gruesome, morbid sight.

It makes me cry each time I see Him
All His children always flee Him
Every night He sings and dances
Every night He gives more chances.

Every night He sets some places
‘round a fire for children’s faces
Every night He lays out mats
And all that come are mice and gnats.

They eat the fruit He spread around
The finest gifts that day He found
He sees the critters eat His fruit
And then He plays His magic lute.

Such a tune He plays each night!
Fingers fast and eyes so bright
On His face is such a smile
Gnats stop eating for a while
Mice line up in single file.

Then He stops and looks around
All alone on holy ground
He lifts His arm and starts to cry
And hangs His head and fights a sigh.

He cannot bear His soulful sadness
In His tribe is so much badness
On his knees before the moon
He prays His clan will find Him soon.

He gathers all the colored mats
Spots where only vermin sat
Takes them bundled to the creek
And scrubs them all until they squeak.

"Might as well forget my sorrow
Maybe a child will come tomorrow."
