Masking the Truth
A commentary on people's reaction to The Return of Spirit and "Peoples Guide to the End of the World."

Dear friends,
I would like to say a few words, please, regarding my situation, since it is also a collective one. It is important that people have insight into what is happening. Ever since I finished The Return of Spirit and "People’s Guide to the End of the World," I learned something that I did not suspect beforehand. The evil people knew that the information contained therein signaled the end of their predominance in life, and ever since, they have been working relentlessly to cover up these facts and prevent people from acting in response to them. One of their main means of accomplishing this is always to slander my name so that I appear bad to as many people as possible. Their plan has been to discredit me so that innocent people will assume that anything I have written or might say must be untrue and of no value to others. Beginning 11 years ago, when I finished those works, the bad people united in a plan to prevent people across the board from speaking to me. They spread ugly rumors about me, and for many years most people were influenced by those words. The bad people achieved their aim, since no one would hear anything I had to say about anything. They used anything they could possibly seize upon, anything that made me appear bad or foolish and used their primary tool of evil, their mouths, to spread those things as far and wide as possible--just as far and wide as I had spread my book in order to help people.
I wrote that book because I love people so much, I care about them and I cannot bear to see anyone suffer. This fact, if anyone just stops and thinks about it, speaks for itself, since I have sacrificed everything in my life, and taken enormous suffering upon myself, in order to try to help people and guide them at a time when people need the help I provided. The bad people, however, know that this information threatens their long-standing dominion over creation, and that is why they seek obsessively to isolate me and prevent others from paying attention to it.
Everywhere I go, the oppressors are always alert to prevent me from saying anything that is true in a significant and timely way. I know fully well, of course, that they will never allow me to reiterate any of the points I made in my book 10 years ago. Nevertheless, I have an awareness of the blatant problems facing people these days and I want to help protest us all. Presently, I am deeply worried about the condition of America's food supply. As if contamination from pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers were not harmful enough, we are now faced with an even far greater danger in genetically modified food (GMOs). The studies that have already been done, using lab animals fed GMOs, have discovered some ominous physiological changes, including reduced birth weight, infertility and a (possibly precancerous) doubling in the intestinal wall's thickness. The GMO foods that are being marketed more and more every day have never been tested for safety and are never even labeled as GMO. They are sold as though they are "normal," "natural," "authentic" food, even though they contain genes from unrelated species, including bacteria and spiders. Our only protection now is to buy all organic. It is the only food we can trust these days as being pure and real, something that will make us healthy and strong rather than vulnerable and sickly. I could elaborate much more, but information is available to anyone who seeks it. I much prefer to say that after researching this topic, my conclusion is that the only rational thing for humans to do, hands down, is to destroy all GMO seeds immediately. Otherwise we will lose our connection to Mother Nature's source of health and vitality.
Whenever I say things like this--and nothing ever about Maharishi, just other crucial topics that people need to consider in order to help and protect themselves--that is when the bad people begin working to discredit me, make me appear bad, and drive me out of town. Their reason is this (and has been this all along): if people notice that I am a good person, with good, helpful intentions, and see that I am educated, aware, and articulate, then some might pay attention to other things I have written. Therefore, as always, they work to hide the truth by making me appear bad, working, of course, always with their mouths when I am not there to see them or hear them.
We see the same phenomenon clearly evinced in the New Testament. It is fundamentally the dynamics in which waking state consciousness relates and responds to purer values of awareness. It is not possible to speak higher truths, purer points of knowledge, to a population whose consciousness is not pure enough to receive them. This is the reason why the apostles tell us Jesus spoke to the masses only in parables, simple stories whose meaning seemed literalistic to them. The common people were only capable of comprehending and handling basic information. And when Jesus was alone with the disciples, "he would explain everything to them," the underlying, in fact very profound, knowledge that was meant for their ears only since their awareness had been adequately purified. It is for the same reason that the Revelation of John, as the text itself tells us and as is widely acknowledged, is saturated with mysterious symbols. The knowledge it contains is so pure that the common population of the time could not possibly receive it peaceably. Nevertheless, the text preserves the encoded knowledge succinctly, and for anyone whose consciousness is awake and alert enough, the complete meaning will be illumined quite naturally--indeed, by "revelation."
It is for this reason, fundamentally, that some people have responded with so much antagonism to my writings. And still to this day, if I say anything more profound than they can appreciate, they punish me by recycling some embarrassing or hurtful information from my past, interspersed also with distortions and lies. And their unabated persecution often coerces me into silence.
As Paramahansa Yogananda explains, the devil, waking state awareness, is that force which seeks ever to divert man from truth, higher virtue, and God (Autobiography of a Yogi, Ch. 30. See index, "Satan"). It is the "adversary" of goodness in all its more significant and powerful forms. In my case, it is by virtue of gossip, lies, slander and collusion at all levels of authority, in fact, that the devil, waking state consciousness, seeks perpetually to distract people from that information that threatens it. The "rulers of this world," as Jesus calls them, are trying to distract people, occupy them with anything they can think of in order to deflect attention from the truth as long as they can. (Cf. also John 3:19-21.) For the same reason, fundamentally, even many times when people talk about more mundane things like global warming, those most embedded in the waking state will deny the phenomenon. They are a force of blind conservatism. They actively oppose newly emerging truths, working always to promote ignorance, problems, destruction and suffering in human life. The devil is "the father of all lies," and it is by means of lies and deception that they perpetuate their reign. They threaten those who speak the more profound, progressive truths of life with violence. For this reason, we notice that in the scriptures, the only way the higher truths can be safely expressed in the world is either in private, among those who are receptive and appreciative, or by employing a secret code, as in Revelation. It is true also that even when I avoid saying anything that will provoke the noisemakers, and spend time simply doing my meditation techniques (as always, exactly as Maharishi has instructed), they work to obstruct and oppose this sacred practice, even at MUM and in Fairfield, because, for one, these programs greatly relieve suffering and increase bliss in human life in mind and body, and therefore the devil (waking state awareness), whose passion is to make people suffer, deplores them. Jesus told us he would reveal the hidden truths in people's hearts. As this pure knowledge of life grows more and more widely acknowledged, people will see how it continues to divide them according to whether they are more in favor of goodness or badness in their hearts, at the deepest level.
The real objective behind Satan’s work in the world is to promote suffering. His fundamental desire is to keep humans trapped in waking state consciousness, where suffering is inevitable in life. Nothing, in fact, enrages the devil more than when a person works sincerely to rise above waking awareness and establish higher states of consciousness where there exists no suffering. Jesus describes this aspect of enlightenment when he tells the disciples, "your hearts will be filled with gladness, the kind of gladness that no one can take away from you" (John 16:22, TEV). This bliss is so thrilling and fulfilling that in sheer love Jesus wanted to bestow it upon his followers. He reveals to them, "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full" (John 15:11, AKJV). (And Jesus gave them this bliss when they received the Holy Spirit later, as related in Acts.) Christ highlights the eternal equanimity of enlightenment--the freedom from all future suffering--when he declares, "I have defeated the world" (John 16:33, TEV). To live "in the world," in waking state consciousness, is to suffer, while "overcoming" the world in enlightenment, entering heaven, delivers one from all future suffering.
Those who work to attain higher states of consciousness are opposed continuously by the worldly people. It is for this reason that Jesus and the disciples often sought islolated locations where they could pray, as we observe, for example, in Mark 6:46, 14:32 and 14:39. The antagonism on the part of the bad people toward anyone who works to know God is so vicious that Jesus also frequently asked the disciples to stand guard while he prayed in solitude. The Pharisees, in turn, labored with equal fervor, where Jesus could not see them, to slander his name, spreading lies about him as far and wide as they could, in order that he would face great opposition in society. Their persecution, in fact, led to Jesus's death, and it illustrates, abstractly, the fierceness with which the waking state opposes the growth toward higher states of consciousness, which culminates in eternal liberation from sin and suffering.
I am not perfect. I have my human weaknesses and frailties and I know at times I have erred, as we all have. None of those things, however, are of any importance to anyone. They are no one’s business and they are inconsequential. The people who gossip about things are only enamored with garbage and they delight in passing it to others who themselves relish its taste. I have no interest in playing in garbage now. I want to do things that are worthwhile and good for myself and for others. This is my desire and my concern. The ugly people who speak ugly words behind my back are acting according to the same principle as the Pharisees did with Jesus and the disciples: the true reason they work to malign me is because of my work to grow toward higher levels of awareness and to promote all goodness in human life. I will add that one thing that infuriates them more than anything else is when I say anything to anyone that helps her to see the truth--about what is happening in the world now or about this universal science of consciousness. Whenever I say anything illuminating to any other person, they respond by saying anything bad about me they can possibly find, re-re-re-recycle or make up. They behave as piranhas and they show people what they are inside. The only thing some people will allow anyone to say is "everything's fine." And indeed, some people are blind. But there is a saying, "You can fool some people all of the time..."
I have discussed the negative response to my writings. However, I must also include some observations about the positive one, since it has been substantial. Maharishi explained that all people have some value of pure consciousness. The extent of purity varies from person to person, of course, from crude (closer to the animal nature) to highly sensitive, righteous and refined. The degree of purity in awareness depends upon one's past--how old and evolved a soul is and the influences that are affecting her level of consciousness now due to past right and wrong actions. Thus there has been a minority of the whole population whose awareness is pure enough to appreciate the truth and value of these ideas. No one has talked to me personally regarding the subject, but many people, remaining anonymous when I have been in public places, have told me they agree with the book's premise. They have indicated they think I am right in the points I make therein. A few people also have said they trust me, or trust my narrative voice in those writings. The innate trust they feel, I believe, is due either to clear intuition or to the fact that I was acting in a genuine, prophetic role at that time. These sensitive, conscientious people have been in places all over the country, since I have traveled extensively during this period. These individuals, the most pure and good--and those at least able to comprehend the subtleties involved in my explanations and respect my right to express ideas freely without being persecuted--this core of good-hearted people has untied to help me in many different ways, from near and far. I am deeply grateful to them for their compassion, and for acting prudently to protect the overall good of all people. Wisely, these people allow for the free flow of carefully reasoned, solidly validated ideas at a time when it only grows clearer day by day that our nation and the world urgently need help, and the implementation of the only existing body of programs that ameliorate these dire problems at their source, the most powerful and far-reaching level from where to act.
The persecution I have endured from the bad people has been vicious, and thus this web of virtuous people feels, understandably, intimidated. The bad people are keeping us oppressed and preventing us from most quickly reversing the trends of time from destruction and suffering to progress and enjoyment. Eight years ago, in his global press conferences, Maharishi prodded the people adamantly to learn TM, become yogic flyers and practice yogic flying in groups. His repeated message was that this is the only means to reduce and avoid the suffering and destruction that was imminent for the world as a whole. I know, however, that only a small number of people has the constitution that makes the more ascetic lifestyle of a yogic flyer a sincere and appealing endeavor. For the rest, the good people who are simply more worldly by nature, they are left to do whatever good they are able, whenever and wherever they can. Overall, I see the contention between people occurring worldwide as a significant part of the "final battle" between good and evil on earth. And Christ has assured us that in the end he will be victorious.
I thank all the very good people with all my heart for the many powerful ways they have been helping me. Your loyalty, all your great, sincere efforts, your compassion and love mean more to my heart than you know. We good people have sustained many, many hard blows to our faith, and there are even harder ones ahead. We need help from above in order to triumph. Most of all, we need prayer, and it must be genuine. I feel the gratitude and the love from the most warm-hearted people, and I return it sincerely. In general, my ongoing sadness is that we all continue seeing so many destructive things happening in the world, things that really are horrible for the people they affect--take about 1600 homeless families in Bastrop, TX as one example from the mound--and yet we continue acting as though everything is "fine" and there is no reason to be concerned or to do anything new in order to help ourselves. And all the problems, the violent weather and the suffering continue and mount and very few people are acting to help reverse this trend.
An important note for anyone who is sincerely seeking help, guidance and inspiration in these days: read Paramahansa Yogananda's The Second Coming of Christ. In its two volumes and 1600 pages, it is an in-depth commentary upon the four gospels, and includes hundreds of quotations from Jesus. It is the only guidebook one needs in order to be crowned victorious in these times. And even though Yogananda imparted the sacred technique of Kriya Yoga to his followers, the information contained in this text is also wholly compatible and complementary with one's practice of TM. Yogananda voluntarily left his body forever in 1952, but he left instructions with his assistants to withhold this manuscript from the public until 2006, since he knew that now is the time when God wanted people to have it. The preface and introduction also enhance one's understanding of this work's invaluable import.
I'll end with two quotes from Maharishi:
"The hurricanes and tornadoes will not stop until the people join the Global Country of World Peace" [i.e., adopt his Vedic programs]. He added, "This is a good message to give to the people" (Global Press Conference, October 26, 2005).
